The Community Stations Toolkit provides ideas for community events and mental health awareness activities at train stations to increase social connectedness, reduce feelings of isolation and providing information about improving the mental health to commuters.
The University of Melbourne Centre for Mental Health evaluated the pilot project and found that the interventions caused community members to view their stations more positively. It also showed that mental health awareness ‘special events’ at train stations were effective at increasing people’s awareness of poor mental health and increasing their likelihood of helping someone who may be at risk of poor mental health.
