Toll and TrackSAFE join forces for safer roads and railways

Toll Group and the TrackSAFE Foundation are joining forces to create safer workplaces for rail and road employees around Australia.

The two organisations will combine their collective resources and expertise to improve safety and promote mental health within the rail and road industry sectors under a newly signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

TrackSAFE Foundation Chairman, Bob Herbert AM and Toll Group Managing Director, Michael Byrne jointly announced the new partnership overnight ahead of today’s bi-annual TrackSAFE Level Crossing Safety Forum in Melbourne.

“Serious safety incidents happen all too often in the rail and road sectors. As well as physical harm, they can cause lasting emotional and mental trauma for employees, families and community members who are exposed to them,” said Mr Herbert.

“TrackSAFE and Toll share a mutual concern and commitment to championing safe work practices, minimising safety risks and incidents, and improving the way traumatic events are handled.

Our agreement builds on the respective efforts our organisations have undertaken over many years to support road and rail industry worker safety,” Mr Herbert added.

Toll Group Managing Director, Michael Byrne said, “Toll and TrackSAFE’s collaboration enables us both to take advantage of our individual assets and resources but, most importantly, supports the rail and road industry employees under our care.”

The immediate program of work will see some of TrackSAFE’s existing trauma management support tools and resources adapted for Toll and the road industry. This includes a trauma management toolkit, and an app designed to help employees manage stress and build long-term resilience.

“We have a lot of important work ahead of us, but we look forward to a meaningful partnership together,” said Mr Byrne.
