TrackSAFE Foundation pays tribute to Patron, The Hon. Tim Fischer AC
On behalf of the TrackSAFE Foundation, Chairman Bob Herbert AM has extended his deepest sympathies to the family of former Deputy Prime Minister and inaugural Patron of the TrackSAFE Foundation, The Hon. Tim Fischer AC, and paid tribute to his enormous contribution to rail safety.
“The TrackSAFE Foundation is deeply saddened by the passing of The Hon. Tim Fischer AC, and our most heart-felt condolences go out to his family and friends. As Patron of the TrackSAFE Foundation, Tim Fischer supported the work of TrackSAFE with great passion and commitment,” said Chairman TrackSAFE Foundation, Bob Herbert AM.
“The TrackSAFE Foundation exists to reduce rail incidents, trespass and suicide on the rail network with the aim of mitigating the amount of trauma caused to rail employees. The Foundation is fully funded by the Australian rail industry with a Board of Directors drawn from 13 rail organisations, (as well as representation from the unions and roads sector).
“Tim Fischer became Patron of the Foundation upon its inception in 2012, and ever since, has never wavered in his support and personal advocacy of rail safety. In particular, Tim Fischer was a major driver of the annual community awareness initiative, Rail Safety Week, as well as multiple level crossing safety campaigns operating in rural and regional Australia during grain season.
“On behalf of our Board of Directors and staff, I would like to pay tribute to Tim Fischer; a person of great honour and dignity. We are united in our sadness of his loss, but will celebrate the indelible mark Tim Fischer has left on the Foundation and the rail landscape overall,” said Mr Herbert.
