The economic impact of incidents on the Victorian passenger rail network – FY23

This independent report finds that the cost of disruptions caused by trespass on the Victorian passenger network in FY23 is $314.2M. Fencing the rest of the MTM network and 100km of higher risk locations on the V/Line network will cost approximately $262.1 - less than one year of costs from incidents (83%), with benefits delivered in perpetuity.
