Light rail safety campaigns help change the behaviours of vehicle drivers, pedestrians, bike riders and passengers.

We have games for different age groups that are fun at the same time as delivering rail safety messages.

You can help reinforce what your children learn in the classroom by practising waiting safely on a station platform, following the rules at level crossings or crossing at a pedestrian level crossing every time you catch a train or cross railway lines.

There is no evidence to suggest a one-off school visit is effective in changing behaviour, a school visit can be a wonderful opportunity for rail industry staff to be active in the school community and engage with students at a personal level. We recommend that if you are considering a visit to a school, that you encourage the school or class to do a TrackSAFE Education unit of work in conjunction with your visit.

Rail safety is an essential life skill. All children are likely to come across trains, trams or light rail and their tracks either in the city or country at some stage in their lives. It is therefore important that students learn how to be and why it is important to be safe around trains, trams and light rail, no matter where they live.
