World first rail industry initiative sees mateship put back on track

Published Sep 10, 2014
Two national harm prevention organisations, the TrackSAFE Foundation and R U OK?, will today be making history through a world first collaboration that aims to see the Australasian Rail industry and its employees put mateship back on track.

TrackSAFE strives to reduce suicide, trespass, and level crossing incidents on the rail network and R U OK? is an independent, not-for-profit organisation dedicated to encouraging all people to regularly and meaningfully ask ‘are you ok?’ to support anyone struggling in life.

Chairman of TrackSAFE, Bob Herbert AM, will be signing a Memorandum of Understanding with R U OK? General Manager, Brendan Maher, at Central Station today to officially establish national Rail R U OK? Day, which will be held next year on the 16 April 2015. (See details at end of release.)
